How do I use the service? Simply compose a new message containing ONLY the address, and send the message to 197HOUSE (19746873)
How long before I receive a response? You should receive a response within a maximum of a few minutes. If you do not receive a response, please contact support. Please click here for contact details.
How much does the service cost? For every SMS that you send the 197HOUSE number, you are charged $2.95 (including GST).
Can I use the service for a cheaper sum? Yes, you may purchase pre-paid credits. Please contact support for more information. Click here for contact details.
Can I do an enquiry on any Australian property? No. You can currently only obtain information on New South Wales, Queensland and South Australian properties.
How far back in time do you have sales information for? All SA, NSW and QLD data go back at least 8 years.
The house down the street sold last week, can 197House tell me what it sold for? It is unlikely that settlement has occurred (settlement usually occurs 30 days after contracts have been exchanged), and may take up to 3 months for the paperwork to be done, and the data to reach us.
Can I obtain 197House information other than via SMS? E.g. Email or phone? The 197House service is only available via SMS.
Can I use a prepaid mobile phone? Yes, however some phone plans do not allow you to use premium services. You may however purchase pre-paid credits from us, and we can provide you with an alternative number you may use. Please contact us for more information on pre-paid credits. Do I need to register before using 197HOUSE? No, you may use the service right away. 197House is not a subscription service, however you may receive some information from time to time. If you wish to receive occasional information via email, you may register first via the website before use, and enter in your details. 197House implies your acceptance of our terms and conditions.
Median sales information Median values are left to the user to interpret the significance based on number of sales.
Percentage Change is calculated as ([current value] - [previous value]) / [previous value]

What is the address format I should use? You should include as much information as possible in your request. You should include unit number, house number, street name, street type, suburb or postcode and state.
You should not include any punctuation.
The address format should adhere to the Australia Post Address Presentation Standards. Some examples are here.

The use of this pre-paid number (as opposed to the premium 197468737 number) requires that you have a pre-paid account with us. You either do not have an account set up with us, or you do not have any credits, or you have run out of credits. Please contact our support staff if you wish to obtain more credits or want to know more. Please click here for contact details.
I SMS'ed the address, but I received the following message:

Sorry. The address you entered was invalid. Type H for Help.
Please ensure that you only have the complete and accurate address in your message that you send. 197House is an automated service, which has tried to find the closest match to your request however was unable to find a match. Examples are:

* Postcode in message is '5ooo'. It must be '5000' using zero's, not the letter 'O'.

* Incorrect postcode. If you don't know it, leave it out, but make sure you include the state eg '38 Greenhill Rd Wayville SA'.

* Make sure you use correct spacing. For example, '38.Greenhill.Rd.Wayville.SA' or '38Greenhill Rd WayvilleSA' will incur in an error.

Please ensure that you only have the complete and accurate address in your message that you send. 197House is an automated service, which has tried to find the closest match to your request however was unable to find a match. Examples are:

* Postcode in message is '2ooo'. It must be '2000' using zero's, not the letter 'O'.

* Incorrect postcode. If you don't know it, leave it out, but make sure you include the state eg '1 Mill St Pyrmont NSW'.

* Make sure you use correct spacing. For example, '1.Mill.St.Pyrmont.NSW' or '1MillStPyrmontNSW' will incur in an error.
